Thank you, Point in Time Volunteers and Survey Participants!

Thank you for participating in the Pinellas County Point in Time Count (PIT) on January 26, 2024! Thanks to your help, Pinellas County can:

  • Secure federal funding for critical resources, including affordable housing

  • Enhance services and programs for individuals, families, Veterans, and Youths experiencing or at-risk of homelessness

  • Inform advocates, policymakers, and community leads of the needs of our neighbors without homes and the status of homelessness in our community

All of this brings us closer to our mission to ensure that homelessness is rare, brief, and a one-time experience. Thank you!

Please take a few minutes to tell us about your PIT experience - and share some photos of your PIT shift - through the volunteer survey available at www.bit.ly/2024PITvolunteers. Your feedback will be invaluable in planning for next year's PIT, which is already underway.

If you have questions about, want to get involved in, or would like to sponsor the 2025 Pinellas County Point in Time Count and Survey, email Victoria Kelly at VKelly@HLAPinellas.org.

Each year, each Continuum of Care (CoC) is required to report the number of homeless persons within its community to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The count takes place in the last week of January and includes both sheltered and unsheltered persons. Sheltered persons are those residing in Emergency Shelters (ES), Transitional Housing (TH) or Safe Havens (SH). Unsheltered persons (UN) are those residing in places not meant for human habitation. The two primary sources for these data each year are the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and a street survey of homeless persons (the Point in Time Count and Survey, or PIT).
